Message from Our Minister
By Reverend Geoffrey Davis This has been a very exciting year. We have shared the movie version of the Secret. That alone has opened many to a new way of thinking. Although the movie has its detractors and naysayers it still spoke directly to an important aspect of life; the creative function of imagination! In Unity imagination is recognized and utilized in our lives and affairs. It was through our use of imagination and combined with faith that we could have our own church facility that would both reflect who we are and serve our needs as a faith based Unity Community of the Metro area, that brought our church into being. Today, we stand at a pivotal point in our growth and development as a church. We have before us the greatest opportunity to reach out to the Oakdale, Lake Elmo, Stillwater Maplewood, Cottage Grove and Woodbury areas, for there are many who are seeking a new and vital experience of Spiritual life. How do we reach them? How can you help? Well, how about being that face of Unity to all that you know. Tell your friends about the church. Encourage them to come to a service with you! We need your ideas and your support. Our fall program will be dynamic. We will feature many classes and seminar opportunities. But what happens depends on you and your willingness to be a part of something new. We will move from the membership model to the consumer model. That means our approach to church will reflect the dynamic growth of the Spiritual Community here on the East side of the Metro area. However, we can only do this if you are willing to join us in redefining what our church looks and sounds like. With a little imagination we can be as effective as Starbucks or Caribou in reaching the spiritual public. So, lets remember that Jesus built the Christian church on the faith of his followers. He also told us that what he had done we would also do, and greater still. So, in an Evangelical spirit I ask you to accept the calling that Divine Spirit has placed on your heart to help us grow and become the New Unity Church in Woodbury. God bless and keep you,
Summer 2007
